Der “The importance of resisting Excessive Government Surveillance” vielleicht bewußt provokativ-klingelnde Vortrag des Amerikaners Nicholas Merrill erzählt die Geschichte eines ISP-Chefs, der sich gegen ein “National Security Letter” des FBI widersetzt hat. “NSLs” sind, vereinfacht gesagt, Durchsuchungsbefehle ohne Richter-OK, ausgeführt im Rahmen des Patriot Acts.
Es ist aber gleichzeitig auch die Geschichte eines einzelnen, der sich für die Demokratie eingesetzt und etwas bewirkt hat.
Zurecht endet der Vortrag mit standing ovations und im Hintergrund wahrnehmbaren “thanks” der den Raum verlassenden Zuhörer. Sehr zu empfehlen!
Der Index des Videos scheint defekt zu sein, daher funktioniert das Hin- und Herspringen im Video möglicherweise nicht – Macht aber nix, die knapp 60 minuten sind es wert!
